June 25, 2009

The fourth and final part in the series, Mexican Drug Trafficking and the Joint U.S./Mexico Law Enforcement Response

La Familia Michoacana, a relatively new and particularly violent group, goes beyond the production and transport of marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine. The group seeks political and social standing, pushing an agenda beyond the usual money-only interests of drug cartels. George W. Grayson is a Professor of Government at the College of William and Mary with a focus on Latin American politics, a senior associate at the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington, D.C., and an associate scholar of the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia.
